Common Concepts

These concepts apply across most or all darts game modes in Dartly.

Legs and Sets

A leg is a single complete game from start to finish. Most game modes can be played as a single leg or as a best-of-N legs match (for example, best of 3 legs means the first player to win 2 legs wins the match). In X01 and Cricket, legs can also be grouped into sets for a professional tournament format — each set consists of several legs, and the match is decided by the first player to win a required number of sets.

Starting Player Rotation

To keep matches fair, the starting player rotates between legs. The first leg begins with the designated starting player, the second leg with the next player, and so on. This ensures no single player always has the advantage of throwing first.

Turn Structure

A standard turn consists of 3 darts. After throwing all 3 darts, play passes to the next player. Some game modes may end a turn early (for example, a bust in X01 or beating the target in Hit and Beat). All game modes support undo, allowing you to correct the last dart if you entered it incorrectly.

Multipliers

Area Value Example
Single Segment face value Single 20 = 20 points
Double (outer ring) Segment × 2 Double 20 = 40 points
Triple (inner ring) Segment × 3 Triple 20 = 60 points
Single Bull 25 points
Double Bull (bullseye) 50 points

Miss / Out

If a dart lands outside the scoring area of the board, it scores 0 points and is recorded as a miss. It still counts as one of your 3 darts for the turn.

Checkout Chart

For X01 games with double-out, Dartly includes a professional checkout chart covering all 161 possible finishes from 2 to 170. These suggestions are based on tables used in PDC professional tournaments.
